Popular Places & Events
When it comes to local events and places let us help you plan your trip so that you don’t miss out on any of the excitement. Here are just a few of our most popular spots!
Take a historical tour of the amazing Battleship right in the heart of Wilmington. This massive battleship is located right across the river in downtown. The USS North Carolina fought in just about every major naval offensive and was considered to be shot down six times. Take a tour of this astonishing ship and be a part of North Carolina’s history.
Calling all One Tree Hill fanatics. If you’re anything like me, visiting the One Tree Hill filming sites was number one on my NC bucket list. Take pictures in front of the legendary Brooke Davis house with the red door. Visit multiple filming sites centralized in Downtown Wilmington. You’ll be able to see Karen’s Cafe and much more!
Summer events have put Carolina Beach on the map. This charming beach town is home to a huge seaside amusement park all summer long. Once you have had enough thrills on the roller coasters or Donut’s at Britts, stick around on a Thursday night and watch the fireworks show. Enjoy a farmer’s market on Saturday’s, free concerts and movies on the lake for the kiddos. This is not something you want to miss.
When you’re all tired out from swimming in the ocean all day Fort Fisher Aquarium offers you a peaceful and entertaining activity to take the whole family too. Watch the sea life and learn about the local habitats. They also hold a variety of events and activities for the kids to get involved in. Take a behind the scenes tour, go canoeing around Zeke’s Island and even go fishing.
It’s time to do some serious exploring. Hop on the ferry in Fort Fisher and take a ride down the Cape Fear River and visit Bald Head Island and Southport. This relaxing ride is a fast and convenient way to see more of the barrier islands, eat some delicious food and play on the white sand beaches. Bald Head Island, where no cars are allowed, provides a thrilling golf cart ride around the light houses, through the woods and all around the beach. The entertainment never ends.
